What are Prepositions?
Prepositions are words that show the relationship between a noun or pronoun and other words in the sentence. Some common prepositions include: in, on, under, above, beside, etc.
Let us understand the use of prepositions with examples.
In: The bird is in the nest.
On: The pencil is on the desk.
Under: The cat is under the bed.
Above: The clouds are above the mountains.
Beside: The table is beside the bed.
Prepositions can also be used to describe time, for example:
After: We will have dinner after the match.
Before: I will finish my homework before you.
During: I will read a book during my holidays.
