What is a Sentences? for Grade 2
A group of words which make complete sense and expresses our thoughts is a sentence.
A sentence always begins with a Capital Letter.
When we speak, read or write we use sentences.
For Example:
Leela is dancing on stage.
Greg is unwell today.
This bag is very heavy.
Types of sentences:
There are two types of sentences, they are:
(a) Statements and (b) Questions
(a) Statement: When a sentence tells us something, it is called a statement. A statement always end with a full stop.
For example:
(i) The ball is big and round.
(ii) My mother went to the supermarket.
(iii) Ron plays football very well.
(b) Question: When a sentence asks something it is called a question. A question always ends with a question mark (?)
For example:
(i) Which school do you go to ?
(ii) Where is the bank?
(iii) Do you like swimming?
